Pilot project approved for Contemporary Worship Services

Last week our Board of Directors voted as one in favor of a pilot project comprising Contemporary Worship Services in our Sanctuary on a Shabbat morning once a month for a period of six months. The services will be led by musicians Anna Jaffe, Linda Salvay and yours truly. Our ensemble will include musical instrumentation, specifically one or two acoustic string instruments and various percussion devices.

The first of these services will take place beginning at 10 am Saturday, December 9. Beginning in January, the service will be held the first Shabbat of the month. The service will last approximately two hours, and will include our usual full Torah reading service, excepting the abbreviation of the Haftarah.

Moreover, the service will retain all required liturgical prayers in their usual order, the novelty being that a goodly number will offered in musical fashion – specifically designed to encourage congregants to participate by singing, clapping, and even on occasion dancing.

Below are links to mp files of some of our music. Please give them a listen.
